Welcome, all garden members, new members, friends and supporters of the North Port Community Garden!
This blog is available to share the story of our garden as well as interesting news, photos,
information, recipes, and ideas. Anyone wishing to submit any of the above to this collaborative journal can them via email to NPGarden@yahoo.com.This 2015 Fall growing season in just getting kicked off out at the garden, and the rains have finally slowed a bit from the recent summer monsoon weather. A new batch of gardeners has joined the gang and plots are being uncovered and renewed with fresh compost and starter plants.
If you are reading this and would like more information about our garden, you can call Garden Manager Linda Kronholm at 941-423-9648 or Garden Manager Karl Goudy at 941-429-9550. Weekly informational garden tours are available on site from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. weekly, so come see if you'd like a site. The yearly rental fee for each plot is a very reasonable $25.
If this is your first season gardening with us, be sure to familiarize yourself with all the available on- site resources available to you -- tools in the tool shed, compost, mulch, shared seeds and so much more, not to mention the collective creativity and wisdom of all the different gardeners. Volunteer opportunities abound, and the garden is also a great place to relax or to spend time chatting under the shade trees (i.e. "managing"...ha!).
Presently, collective cleanup/work days are scheduled for the second Saturdays of each month for those who are able to participate. Active members check the shed door for bulletin board "chat" and be sure to sign in and out via the garden binder located there as well.
If you're having any problems resolving issues with your plot, be sure to communicate with one of the garden managers.
We're here to grow things, soak up the sun, and enjoy!
